The program for family caregivers or professionals consists of four classes: Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias Overview; Capturing Life’s Journey; Techniques to Manage Behaviors; and Activities to Encourage Engagement.

The classes will be held at Delmarva Community Services, 2450 Cambridge Beltway on June 26 and 28 from 1-5 p.m. both days.  For more information about free family caregiver training, and to register for the classes, contact the local Home Instead Senior Care office at 410-822-1230 or visit www.helpforalzheimersfamilies.com.

Gun SC Cops: Anti Gun Mayor Demanded Sex At Gunpoint

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” organization was revealed last fall to include a long list of mayors who, because of their convictions, were no longer eligible to own weapons themselves.

Now another embarrassment has surfaced for the organization.

According to a report from the Second Amendment Foundation, Mayor James Schiliro, of Marcus Hook, Pa., now is facing a long list of charges for allegedly trying to force an underage boy to perform sex acts – and then firing one of three handguns he grabbed at a wall when the boy refused.

“Mayor Schiliro is one more example of why we started the ‘Gun Owners Against Illegal Mayors’ campaign,” said Alan Gottlieb, the organization’s executive director.

“He joins recently convicted former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and recently indicted former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, both of whom were MAIG members.”

Founded by geniuses, run by idiots

Had to share this -

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is
evolution, but the government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote who runs the government … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a
24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of
dollars of debt is to spend trillions more … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his
teacher “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in
grade school is perfectly acceptable … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots. If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to
incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of Unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big
screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TV’s and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Council, DCS struggle

over cost of programs

in Aug. 7 meeting

By Dave Ryan

Delmarva Community Services

CAMBRIDGE – The future of regional transportation remains in question following Tuesday’s meeting of the Dorchester County Council, at which council members and officials of Delmarva Community Services, Inc. were unable to reach a funding compromise.

The council has linked DCS’ withdrawal of support to its South Dorchester senior satellite program – where 18 individuals are registered – to county contributions towards DCS’ fleet of 70 buses which serve the general public and the disabled on the Mid- and Upper Shore.

In Dorchester alone last year, nearly 200,000 rides were completed.

In a June 22 letter to DCS, Council President Jay Newcomb wrote, “…we would like to receive notification as to when the Golden Hill Center will reopen based on this fiscal year funding.”

Dorchester County’s level of support for DCS’ transit and care for the aging is well below that of the three other counties served by the agency. Dorchester’s allocation this year to transportation is $20,507, with $45,000 going to the senior centers.

According their websites, Talbot this year is allocating $90,500 to transportation and $163,155 to the senior center; Caroline has $75,000 for transportation and $46,362 to the senior center; and Kent has $94,419 for transportation and $100,804 to the senior center.

In relation to their total budgets, this represents .12 percent for Dorchester; .36 percent for Talbot; .29 percent for Caroline; and .46 percent for Kent.

The council cut support to DCS in fiscal 2011 by 50 percent, forcing the non-profit agency to reduce its Cambridge and Hurlock senior center operations to three days a week each. There was no money, however, to run the South Dorchester satellite, which up to that point had been funded solely by DCS.

Meal service and a single staffer were subsequently withdrawn from the satellite.

On July 3, the council rejected DCS’ compromise offer of reopening the site for two days a month. At that meeting, Councilman Rick Travers cast the only vote for compromise.

In the current fiscal year, the council has divided its $65,507 contribution, specifying $15,000 each for the two senior centers and for the satellite. The remaining $20,507 would go to fund medical transportation.

By specifying the use of the funds, however, the county has prevented DCS from using the money to leverage matching state and federal grants critical to the continued operation of the entire transportation system. “We needed to put the bulk of the money into transit,” DCS President/CEO Santo Grande said.

DCS Finance Director Cathy Frey said, “This designation of $15,000 for each site removes our flexibility.”

Councilman Newcomb questioned the original decision to withdraw all support to the satellite, saying “It’s just so hard to cut the seniors.”

Seniors from the program told the councilmen that they very much looked forward to attending the meetings once again with DCS support. They continue to gather periodically at the site, provided by a local church.

On Tuesday, Mr. Grande presented DCS’ most recent compromise offer, stated in a July 13 letter to County Manager Jane Baynard.

Mr. Grande wrote, “Our agency is willing to provide three days per month service to the DCS, Inc. South Dorchester satellite program during the months of September through May, (nine months). I would again like to remind you that the service during the summer is very difficult to provide because of a shortage of staff due to vacations, the cost of fuel and food. This compromise supplants our original desire to serve South Dorchester only two days per month for twelve months. I believe this proposal is significantly different and very generous in lieu of our original proposal to eliminate service to South Dorchester. Please remember that the key to quality senior services to the seniors of Dorchester County is the ability to provide them with safe and reliable transportation.”

Nancy Hastings of the South Dorchester Good Neighbor Project suggested that DCS offer 42 days a year, possibly with no hot lunch as a means of cutting expenses. Mr. Grande pointed out that meal service is an integral part of senior services.

After more than an hour of sometimes vigorous discussion, Councilman Travers supported the 42-day plan, adding, “I feel like we’re much closer than we have been.”

“If we don’t get this worked out, you don’t get the money you need, you don’t get transportation, nobody gets where they need to go,” he said.

Councilman William Nichols called for compromise while noting that the county has had its own state funding drastically reduced. “We’re going to have to meet in the middle,” he said. “We lost $4 million on a $54 million budget.”

He also cited the cost of teachers’ pensions and an impending drop in tax revenue following what he expects to be lower state property assessments.

“If everybody thinks it’s bad now, wait until next year,” he said. “I’m not crying, I’m telling you how it is.”

Council members and DCS officials agreed to discuss the issue further prior to the council’s next meeting on Sept. 4.

The buses do not go every place in Dorchester county, and at the time they go, some people would be late for work. And plus at $2.00 round trip, and $20.00 a week,

and $80.00 a month, it get to be expensive.  Plus for a person that has to be in work by 7 am lets say they for sure would be late.  And  the buses, they have serve different area's and do not go to the some places. At an early hour. Plus they stop the bus sevice at 5:30  pm so if a person gets out of work at 6pm or after good luck in getting home.  taxis do not run late at night either.  This town need some really good buses, that go all over, and some mass tranist, that would take people to Salisbury for work easton, and more.  We do not have that.

Commissioners reject

DCS compromise offer

By Dave Ryan

Delmarva Community Services

CAMBRIDGE – Times are tough all around, and they could get tougher for local senior citizens, the disabled and the general public following the Dorchester County commissioners’ 4-1 rejection of a funding compromise offered by Delmarva Community Services, Inc.

Leaders of the non-profit agency, employer of 200 local residents, were seeking a way to stretch limited funds to serve seniors, especially those at a small South Dorchester satellite program, while keeping its fleet of 70 buses on the road. The decision came during the councilmen’s July 3 meeting.

Councilman Rick Travers (District 3) cast the sole vote for compromise.

Rejection of the compromise means the county government no longer provides matching funds needed to leverage state and federal grant money necessary to keep the award-winning public transportation system operating.

The compromise was specified by DCS President/CEO Santo Grande in a June 27 letter to County Manager Jane Baynard.

Mr. Grande wrote, “Since our agency must have [county] matching cash funds to draw down Public Transportation Section 5311, we are requesting that $15,000 be allocated to assist with opening our South Dorchester satellite program two days per month or every other Wednesday…The balance of $50,507 would be committed to the required matching funds for public transportation.”

Councilmen who voted to reject the compromise were Jay Newcomb (District 1), William V. Nichols (District 2), Rick Price (District 4) and Tom Bradshaw (District 5).

Delmarva Community Transit, a branch of Delmarva Community Services, Inc. (DCS) was named the best rural transportation system in the nation in 2007 by the Community Transportation Association of America. Thousands of county residents depend on the routes to take them to their jobs, doctor’s offices and pharmacies, as well as to buy groceries and other necessities.

The buses completed more than 200,000 passenger trips in Dorchester in 2011. All are equipped with wheelchair lifts.

The transit system is an integral part of the organization’s wide-ranging programs, which serve senior citizens, the general public, veterans, individuals living in poverty, the developmentally disabled and the Spanish-speaking community.

The council has linked its funding to DCS with last year’s closing of South Dorchester’s Golden Hill satellite program for seniors, which served about 20 individuals. In a letter from County Manager Jane Baynard signed by Councilman Jay Newcomb to Mr. Grande dated June 22, Mr. Newcomb wrote, “I am writing on behalf of the County Council of Dorchester County regarding the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget…In particular, we would like to receive notification as to when the Golden Hill Center will reopen based on this FY funding.”

DCS runs senior centers in Hurlock and Cambridge, both of which are open to all county seniors. Both operate primarily on state money.

Following Hurricane Irene in 2009, DCS leaders recognized a need for a center in South Dorchester, and began a program there, paying for it from DCS’ own limited funds.

In fiscal year 2010, the Dorchester County Council contributed $131,013 to DCS’ operations. In fiscal 2011, this was cut to $65,507, despite warnings from DCS that this would adversely affect programs – though DCS receives funds from a variety of sources, virtually all of it is restricted for specified uses and cannot be transferred.

DCS was then forced to reduce its senior centers’ operations to three days a week, though the schedule was staggered in such a way between Hurlock and Cambridge that service could still be offered to all the county’s seniors four days a week.

There was no way, however, for DCS to maintain the South Dorchester satellite program out of its own pocket, and the organization withdrew its meal service and single staff member.

In deliberations for the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget, the councilmen specified $15,000 each for the Hurlock and Cambridge senior centers, with another $15,000 for the Golden Hill satellite, and $20,507 marked for medical transportation. An additional $32,201 will go to developmental disabilities services.

By specifying how the funds are to be used – something the council had not done in previous years – the councilmen prevented DCS leaders from using $65,000 as they had in the past, to leverage state and federal funds for transportation, as required by law.

In a letter to a local newspaper, DCS Board of Directors Chairperson William Batson wrote, “Because of our decision to reduce service days to our senior centers, the council made a hasty decision to earmark future allocations for senior center services only, thus leaving other programs like transportation and services to the homeless and people in poverty without county support. Such earmarking also affects seniors needing transportation and home-delivered meals. In other words, the council will give us half the usual funding and then tell us how to spend the money without a clear understanding as to how we prioritize the services to meet the most critical needs.”

Re: Farmer

Wish they hadn't changed the forums because it seems so many who used to participate are no longer here to receive this news. I did know that about shock trauma; yes, it would seem toxic or septic shock would be the cause for entrance. I did not know Farmer in person but he shared so much of himself that when I read the obituary, it was precisely in line with everything he represented here. I know he enjoyed making wine from grapes he grew; that was a subject we discussed because I am friends with a farming family who is starting to do the same.

Re: Farmer

Greetings Scrapple.

I ask the family's forgiveness if I get this wrong (and remain miffed we can't edit our posts if something is wrong). To my understanding, he was working outside, got a cut or bite or something, that became badly infected. I am not sure if an amputation needed to be done or not.

I'm sure you know, but others might not, that medical shock includes non-trauma occurences, so I am guessing he was at shock-trauma for perhaps septic shock.

I think his mishap occurred in mid, if not early, spring.

He will be missed indeed. He was one of the first Zap members I came across on the old forum and I enjoyed his posts.

Won't let me reply to your post, Pete but that is just terrible news. He was one of the most evenhanded, genuine people on the old forums and far too young for this fate. How did it happen? I see Shock Trauma mentioned. Was there an accident? So sorry for his family. R.I.P., Farmer, you were a good man.

Cambridge Gas leak nothing to be alarmed about?
Reporter Cleo Greene is live in Cambridge at the scene of a 4,000 gallon gasoline leak.  The Cambridge Fire Chief says around 11 last night, a pick up truck driver crashed through the gate at Aero Energy, hit a pipe, caused the leak and fled the scene.  Clean up is underway now.  Residents are urged not to be alarmed if they smell gasoline in the air in Cambridge. To be able to make sure payday cash advances are fair for both customers and lenders, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation will be doing an investigation. The federal government has heard enough complaints about the loans to have a look and see what is happening. Both personal loan companies and banks will be looked at in the investigation to make sure practices are fair. Get more info at: Payday Loan.

Delegate warns of 'black youth mobs'

McDonough urges 'no-travel zone' at Inner Harbor

A Baltimore County delegate said Wednesday that the governor should send in the Maryland State Police to control "roving mobs of black youths" at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, prompting a colleague to label the message "race-baiting."

Del. Patrick L. McDonough, a Republican whose district includes part of Harford County, distributed a news release with the headline: "Black Youth Mobs Terrorize Baltimore on Holidays." In it, McDonough said he had sent a letter to Gov. Martin O'Malley urging him to use the state police to help prevent attacks and to declare the Inner Harbor area a "no-travel zone" until safety can be guaranteed.

McDonough's message, which came on the last day of a General Assembly special session, offended some colleagues who thought it gratuitously highlighted the issue of race.

"It's a throwback to the '50s and '60s, and it's obviously race-baiting," said Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., a Baltimore Democrat who offered to take McDonough on a guided tour of the Inner Harbor on a weekend night.

McDonough, a radio talk-show host, is best known in the legislature for his relentless and sometimes confrontational efforts to crack down on illegal immigration in Maryland.

"I'm not surprised at this inappropriate behavior," said Del. Ana Sol Gutierrez, a Montgomery County Democrat. She said that in her 10 years in the legislature, she hadn't seen such a racially tinged statement released by a colleague.

McDonough refused to back down, saying he had heard from police that the crowds involved in several recent incidents were all black. Failing to mention the race of the participants, he said, would be "political correctness on steroids."

McDonough said his statement was prompted by several recent problems, including a St. Patrick's Day disturbance and a recent incident in which he and his wife witnessed a fight involving about 100 youths at Pratt and Calvert streets.

The lawmaker said that his statement has brought attention from out-of-town news media and that he planned to give national television interviews warning visitors against traveling to the Inner Harbor. "A no-travel zone is an action that needs to be taken to protect lives," he said.

O'Malley, a former Baltimore mayor, dismissed McDonough's suggestions, saying Baltimore had cut its crime rate more than any American city of comparable size.

"Delegate McDonough should come and visit some time," the governor said. "He might enjoy it."

Bank of the Eastern Shore located in Cambridge Maryland was closed by the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation.

How horrible. the Fdic just walks and and says they are closed. they surprise them all. And a mean way to go about things. I was there today to get my money out. and the place was packed with people all the way out the door. And these people were making coffee acting like there was zero wrong. they are cruel.  A home town bank shut up. And I heard there are a few more places in town are in trouble. Like the national bank of cambridge but because of being in business for over 100 years they are saved. I feel so sorry for all the employees and sonny.

Bank of the Eastern Shore located in Cambridge Maryland was closed by the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation.

from FDIC – Bank of the Eastern Shore – April 27, 2012 On Friday, April 27, 2012, Bank of the Eastern Shore located in Cambridge, Maryland was closed by the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was appointed Receiver. No advance notice is given to the public when a financial institution is closed. To protect insured depositors, the FDIC has created the Deposit Insurance National Bank of Eastern Shore. It will remain open until May 25, 2012. The purpose of the Deposit Insurance National Bank of Eastern Shore is to provide critical banking services and time to transfer your accounts to another insured Bank or Thrift. To reduce any disruption to you, all insured funds will remain available to you throughout this period. There is no need for you to come to the bank. You may continue to write checks, use your ATM cards, as usual through the dates indicated below. However, bill pay will be discontinued and online banking will be disabled over the weekend and will be brought back online Monday, April 30, 2012 and until it is permanently disabled on 5/14/2012. Please note: Normal weekend ATM card limits will continue to be in effect as follows: ATM: $610 (Some ATMS have lower limits; however, you may withdraw from other ATMS up to a total of $610.) Point-of-sale (POS): $500 As soon as possible during this period, you should make arrangements to transfer your account to another insured bank or thrift. If you have not made arrangements by May 25, 2012, the FDIC will mail you a check for the full insured balance of your account on May 31, 2012. Interest will not be paid after Friday, April 27, 2012. CDS and IRAS: If you have a CD or IRA account, the FDIC will mail a check for your insured balance to your mailing address on record with Bank of the Eastern Shore. Checks will be mailed on Monday, April 30, 2012. IF THIS DEPOSIT INSURANCE CHECK REPRESENTS A DISTRIBUTION FROM A RETIREMENT ACCOUNT, you should consult IRS Publication 590 and/or your tax advisor concerning the possible tax consequences of such distribution. This publication specifically addresses an exception to the waiting period between rollovers in this situation; therefore, you should review it carefully. This Publication may be obtained by contacting your local IRS office or via the internet at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p590.pdf?source=govdelivery]http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p590.pdf. DIRECT DEPOSITS: All direct deposits, including Social Security checks, will continue through May 18, 2012. You must contact the originator of your direct deposit or automatic withdrawal as soon as possible and provide them with your new banking information. THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT: (Be sure to leave enough funds in your account to cover any outstanding checks) The quickest and easiest way is to write a check for your available balance, then deposit that check into an account at another financial institution. Request a wire transfer for the available balance to another financial institution. Ask for a "no fee" Cashier's Check or Money Order. Critical Dates and Information: Immediately: Automatic payments will no longer be processed 5/14/2012: Bill Pay and on-line banking will be disabled over the weekend and back online 4/30/2012. They will be permanently disabled on 5/14/2012 May 14: ATM/Debit Card services will be deactivated and discontinued. May 18: Final day to accept direct deposits. May 18: Walk-in deposits will no longer be accepted May 25: Final day for drive-through window transaction For more details on the closure of Bank of the Eastern Shore, please refer to the Press Release on the website listed below: http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/easternshore.html?source=govdelivery]http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/easternshore.html Question and Answer Guide The FDIC has also established the following website where you may view the Frequently Asked Questions Guide, which will be updated on an ongoing basis: http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/easternshore_q_and_a.html?source=govdelivery]http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/easternshore_q_and_a.html SCAMS: Be watchful and resist any scams to obtain information from you by individuals or entities stating that they are acting on behalf of either the failed bank or the FDIC. Hurlock Settles Court Case with Sheriff Small

Sorry, I meant Police Chief not Sheriff. As for the audit, doesn't Hurlock charge by the tap.

If that is correct then a person living alone in a large older house with a lot of bathrooms would be paying more than a family of 5 living in a house with one bathroom even though the larger family would have a lot more water usage.

However, I dont see how an aduit would help set fees since your town does not have meters to monitor household water usage and any fee based on that would simply be an estimate and not a fair way to charge.

Hurlock Settles Court Case with Sheriff Small

First of all it was Police Chief Small not Sheriff Small, and the townspeople do diserve to know if and how much of a settlement he was paid from our town treasury; how well our town officals handle the towns business is what we judge them on come reelection time. I am curious why after some 40 years town officials have chosen to do an audit of home water uses at this time, could it be they're looking to raise some extra funds or something?

Hurlock Settles Court Case with Sheriff Small

Hurlock has settled the case with former Sheriff Small in his wrongful termination suit. However, part of the settlement involves a confidentiality clause which means no one can know how much Hurlock paid to settle that suit.

Shouldn't the residents of Hurlock have the right to know how much money was paid to settle this case out of court and why it was settled in this manner.

Now that we have spent millions to repair the sidewalks we decided to try and blacktop the street as well. Should have quit while they were ahead, the street was smoother after they milled it than it is now after they blacktopped it.  The worst job I've ever seen and we paid for it.  The icing on the cake is they tried to paint the center yellow lines on part of it and did it twice, now we have four lines instead of two, but who can count.

One way (among a few) that we can be sure, is because the prophecies of the Holy Bible come to pass. Take for example the re-establishment of Israel. I cannot think of any nation that was dispersed and "removed off the map" like Israel was in 70AD, and then reconstituted almost 2000 years later(1948). Not only that, if you have a moment, check Joel 3:1-2, written by the Holy Spirit some 500 years before Christ. Note that all nations will be gathered against Israel in the "valley of Jehoshaphat." That could not have happened literally before 1948. In 1948, not only was Israel reconstituted, but the UN was formed.

Speed Camera Info

I wanted to copy this from the old Newszap before that forum shuts down. Newszap member madam x posted the following on Feb. 7:

BANNER NEWS: Cambridge PD just released this statement about the city's speed cameras: On Feb. 7, the Cambridge Police Department wants to advise the general public that the speed monitoring camera systems have been moved to the following locations:
1. Route 16 near Cambridge-South Dorchester High School. The school zone speed limit is 40 mph. The system will issue violations at 52mph.
2. Race Street near Open Bible School. The school zone speed limit is 35 mph. The system will issue violations at 47 mph.
The Cambridge Police Department is asking all drivers in those areas to drive below the posted school zone speed limit for the safety of the children who are attending those schools.

Can't review posts before posting nor can we edit them after we post. Yak, we can post pictures, but we have to "hot link them," drawing from someone's server. Imo, that is not fair unless the owner of the server does not mind. This is going to lead to a lot of abuse. Some have hot linked on the other forum. Unless the owner of the server / web page does not mind, it should not be done. I'd give an example of hot linking by selecting a pic from Newszap itself but I do not wish to get into trouble.

I think it might mean that if you click on "tree" you can see replies to a specific post of the thread instead of seeing that reply a few steps down if there were other posts in between.

For example:

Post 1 Harry makes a statement

Post 2 George posts

Post 3 Bill posts

Post 4 Mark posts

Then let's say perchance Harry comes back, reads the thread, and wants to ask Bill a direct question and hits reply under Post 3 and then posts his question to Bill.

I'm thinking that under flat that Harry's question would show up at the bottom of the thread. Under "tree" it will show up right under post 3.

I have not tested it yet, but if you look at some of the threads now you might see that one post seems to be out of time with the rest. We might be looking then under "tree."

Hope that helps and is not  confusing. I will check that out when I have a little more time. Trying to get another sermon outline.

God bless,

PPM

If you have a favorite thread, bookmark it. Yes, we can subscribe to threads, but a thread you are interested might be dormant for a while and no one is posting on it but you want to.

Tips For Using This New Site

This new forum does the reverse of the old Zap board in that the initial post will always be displayed first. To read the latest post of any thread, go to the main page, and click the link in the column titled "last post."

While I am having difficulty adjusting to fact if we click in the main column of a given thread we see the initial post, but have to click on the link in the "last post" column to see the latest post, this might turn out to be a benefit to all. That way anyone can immediately know what any thread is about by clicking on the main title, then later go to the latest post.

4art v- Art, I seriously doubt they will be transferred, if you mean the ones from the previous site. Seems like we'll have to start all over. That's why a new scanner thread, one for Bowe Bergdahl, etc. here. btw, for that scanner thread, the pages on threads here are too short so what I am thinking of doing is a new scanner thread will start at the beginning of each month and labeled something like "Scanner Alerts for 4/2012"

I see them now too. Must have fixed them last night or early this morning. Smile Just had to test the smilies now.

Now let me test a the anchor. Here is the ten-day forecast for Cambridge.

Test 2

On this test I tried to select the "close" button when done. Perhap's it is really "post" and not "close." On the two other threads there is no place to reply. I selected close and it wiped it out. I see no button to simply post. Just "post and close."

Other obersvations:

The board font is real small. The title for the button "New Post" is outside the button boundries and hard to see.

No direct link back to the Cambridge forum. Have to through the "forum" link.

Can't type in tags.

God bless,

PPM

Testing

Ok. making the font bigger. Looks like I accidently closed the scanner thread. The only submit buttons I saw were "post and close," and "close." That is all I see now. I can't reply on the scanner thread, and I will select post and close on this one to see if the same thing happens.
